C/2023 Q1 (PANSTARRS)

Type: Hyperbolic Perihelion date: 1 December 2024 Perihelion distance (q): 2.6 Aphelion distance (Q) : n/a Period (years): n/a Eccentricity (e): 1.01 Inclination (i): 36.6 JPL orbit diagram COBS lightcurve Atlas Peter Veres of the MPC linked five "isolated tracklet" observations made between 20 August and 20 September 2023 to obtain a parabolic orbit. He then asked PanSTARRS to check their images, with the team finding that the object did show cometary features, when it was 22nd magnitude. There were pre-discovery PanSTARRS images from July 2023.
